Where Instagram's Reels dashboard is in 2026 (personal and pro accounts), what each metric means, and a free dashboard for any public account's Reels.

**Quick answer:** Instagram has no separate Reels dashboard. In the app, go to your profile, tap **Professional dashboard** (personal accounts: **Your dashboard**), open **Content you shared** and filter to Reels. For one Reel, open it and tap **View insights**. You only see your own Reels. For any public account's Reels on one screen, use IShort, a free Chrome extension.

## Where to See Instagram Reels Analytics in 2026

Pick the row that matches what you want to see.

| You want to see | Where to tap | Who can use it |
|---|---|---|
| **One Reel's stats** | Open the Reel → **View insights** | Public personal or professional accounts; Reels up to 2 years old |
| **All your Reels compared** | Profile → Professional dashboard (or Your dashboard) → Content you shared → Reels | Your own public account; last 90 days free |
| **More than 90 days, or a CSV** | Insights time menu or share icon, with a paid Meta One plan | Meta One Advanced, Expert or Max subscribers |
| **Any public account's Reels** | instagram.com/_username_/reels/ → IShort icon | Anyone with the free Chrome or Edge extension |

## Where Is the Instagram Reels Dashboard?

Instagram doesn't label anything "Reels dashboard". Your Reels numbers sit in the same insights area as the rest of your account, and every Reel has its own insights screen. The menu name depends on your account type.

### See all your Reels at once (iPhone or Android)

1. Go to your profile.
2. Tap **Professional dashboard** (Creator or Business account) or **Your dashboard** (personal account). Not on your profile? Open the menu, go to **Settings and activity** and find it under **For professionals** or **Your insights and tools**.
3. Tap **Content you shared** and switch the content type to **Reels**.
4. Pick a time period (the free look-back is 90 days) and sort by views or another metric.

### See one Reel's insights

1. Open the Reels tab on your profile.
2. Tap the Reel.
3. Tap **View insights** under it.

Instagram lists views, watch time, viewers, average watch time and follows for each Reel. Insights exist for Reels posted since 14 May 2021 and stay available for two years after posting ([Instagram Help Center](https://help.instagram.com/202865988324236/)).

### On desktop

instagram.com shows only the public counts on each Reel. Professional accounts linked to a Facebook Page can read insights on a computer in Meta Business Suite. Menus move between app versions; if a label looks different, follow our [step-by-step guide to Instagram Insights](/how-to-view-instagram-insights.html).

## What Does Each Reels Metric Mean?

Instagram's head Adam Mosseri has said the signals that matter most for ranking are watch time, likes per reach and sends per reach ([Social Media Today, Jan 2025](https://www.socialmediatoday.com/news/instagram-shares-algorithm-insights-2025/738034/)). Here is what each number means and which dashboard shows it.

| Metric | What it means | Instagram Insights (own account) | IShort (any public account) |
|---|---|---|---|
| **Views** | Times the Reel started to play or replay | Yes | Yes (Instagram withholds it on a few posts) |
| **Viewers (accounts reached)** | Unique accounts that had the Reel on screen, played or not | Yes | No |
| **Watch time / average watch time** | Total time played, and the average per first play | Yes | No |
| **Follows** | Accounts that followed you after watching | Yes | No |
| **Likes** | Hearts on the Reel | Yes | Yes (unless the creator hides like counts) |
| **Comments** | Comments on the Reel | Yes | Yes |
| **Shares / sends** | How often people sent the Reel to someone | Yes | Only when Instagram returns it |
| **Saves** | How often people saved the Reel | Yes | Only when Instagram returns it |
| **Follower demographics** | Age, gender and location of your audience | Yes, above 100 viewers | No |
| **Engagement rate** | (Likes + comments) / views | Not shown directly | Yes, per Reel and averaged |
| **Outlier multiple** | A Reel's views vs the account's average | No | Yes |

Average watch time only makes sense next to the Reel's length: see [what good Instagram Reels watch time looks like](/instagram-reels-watch-time.html). To judge likes and comments, compare them with [2026 engagement rate benchmarks](/good-engagement-rate-instagram.html).

## Why Can't I See Insights on My Reels?

- **Your account is private.** Insights need a public account, personal or professional. If you just switched to public, past insights can take a while to appear.
- **The Reel is too old.** Reels posted before 14 May 2021, or more than two years ago, have no insights.
- **You're looking past 90 days.** The free account view stops at 90 days. Longer ranges and spreadsheet export need a paid Meta One plan.
- **Demographics are empty.** They only show for a preset time range once your content reaches or engages more than 100 viewers.
- **It isn't your Reel.** Insights are private to the owner. Everyone else sees only the public view, like and comment counts.

## How to See Reels Analytics for Any Account (Not Just Yours)

Instagram Insights stops at your own account. To study a competitor or a creator you admire, IShort reads the public numbers on an instagram.com Reels page and builds a dashboard from them. You sign in to IShort with Google; it never asks for your Instagram password.

1. **Install IShort** from the Chrome Web Store. It also runs on Microsoft Edge.
2. **Open any public profile's Reels tab** on instagram.com, for example instagram.com/username/reels/.
3. **Click the IShort icon**, let it load the Reels you want, and open the analytics dashboard.

| | IShort dashboard | Instagram Insights |
|---|---|---|
| **Accounts covered** | Any public account, yours or a competitor's | Your own account only |
| **Data** | Public counts: views, likes, comments, duration, hashtags, audio, captions | Private data: viewers, watch time, shares, follows, demographics |
| **Account needed** | None on Instagram's side | A public account |
| **History** | As many Reels as you load | 90 days free; longer with Meta One |
| **Extras** | Posting-time heatmap, hashtag ranking, outlier badge, CSV export on every plan | Per-Reel detail; CSV only with Meta One |

## What's on the IShort Reels Dashboard?

The dashboard is a swipeable set of 7 slides. Two extra slides appear only when the data exists: Content Types (when an account mixes Reels and photo posts) and Saves/Shares (when Instagram returns those counts).

| Slide | What it shows | What to do with it |
|---|---|---|
| **1. Performance Overview** | Performance Score 0-100 (engagement up to 50 points plus view consistency up to 50), total and average views, average engagement, engagement trend | Check it weekly. If the score drops, look at slides 3-6 for the cause. |
| **2. Views vs Engagement** | Every Reel as a dot, with lines at the account's average views and engagement | Top-left dots had engagement but few views: try them again at a better time. |
| **3. Best Posting Times** | 7x8 heatmap of average views by day and 3-hour block; hover for the Reel count | Post the next 3-5 Reels in the darkest cell. Ignore cells built on 1-2 Reels. |
| **4. Hashtag Performance** | Top 8 tags used at least twice, by average views, engagement and usage | Keep the top tags in your next set and drop the bottom ones. |
| **5. Best & Worst Performers** | Top and bottom Reel side by side: views, likes, comments, engagement, length, date | Compare the hook, length, audio and posting time. |
| **6. Duration & Audio** | Under 30 s, 30-60 s and 60 s+ Reels, and original vs licensed audio, by average views and engagement | Make more of whichever length and audio type wins for this account. |
| **7. Quick Tips** | 4 AI-generated tips: best hour, best length, audio type, best day | Test each tip over 5-10 Reels before you commit to it. |

Every plan gets the full dashboard, CSV export and Viral Score. Plans differ only in how many Reels you can analyze:

| | Free | Hobby ($10/mo) | Creator ($29/mo) |
|---|---|---|---|
| **Reels analyzed** | 500 (one-time) | 10,000 / month | Unlimited |
| Full 7-slide dashboard, CSV export | Yes | Yes | Yes |
| AI Reel transcripts / month | 10 | 250 | 1,000 |

## A 10-Minute Weekly Reels Dashboard Routine

1. **Rank by views.** In Content you shared, sort the last 30 days of Reels by views. Note the top 3 and bottom 3.
2. **Check retention.** For the top 3, compare average watch time with the Reel's length.
3. **Look at sends and saves.** Reels people sent or saved are the ideas worth repeating.
4. **Look outside.** Run IShort on 2-3 accounts in your niche and note any Reel at 3x their average or more.
5. **Write one line.** What to repeat, what to drop. At month end, roll the notes into an [Instagram Reels monthly report](/instagram-reels-monthly-report.html).

## Frequently Asked Questions

### Is there a separate Reels dashboard on Instagram?

No. Instagram keeps Reels stats inside your account insights: Professional dashboard (or Your dashboard on a personal account), then Content you shared, filtered to Reels. Each Reel also has its own View insights screen.

### Can I see Reels insights on a personal account?

Yes, if the account is public. Instagram's Help Center says reel insights are available to public personal and professional accounts. Personal accounts open them from Your dashboard; Creator and Business accounts use the Professional dashboard.

### How far back can I see Reels analytics on Instagram?

Account insights go back 90 days for free. Each Reel's own insights stay available for two years after it was posted. Looking back further than 90 days, or exporting insights to a spreadsheet, needs a paid Meta One plan.

### Can I see analytics for someone else's Reels?

Not their private insights such as viewers or watch time. You can see their public views, likes and comments, and IShort turns those into a dashboard for any public account: Reels sorted by views, a posting-time heatmap, hashtag and audio winners, and CSV export.

### Is IShort's Reels dashboard free?

Yes. The Free plan includes the full 7-slide dashboard and CSV export for a one-time allowance of 500 Reels. Hobby ($10/month) raises the limit to 10,000 Reels a month and Creator ($29/month) is unlimited.
