IShort ("we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you use our Chrome extension and related services.
Chrome Web Store Limited Use. IShort's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs, and any other user data we collect, adheres to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. We use this data only to provide and improve the extension's features, and we do not sell it or use it for advertising.
Not affiliated with Instagram or Meta. IShort is an independent tool and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Instagram or Meta Platforms, Inc. "Instagram" is a trademark of Meta Platforms, Inc. IShort only reads publicly available data that Instagram already shows in your logged-in browser session.
1. Information We Collect
1.1 Information You Provide
- Account Information: When you sign in with Google, we receive your email address, display name, and profile picture from your Google account.
- Payment Information: If you subscribe to a paid plan, payment information is collected and processed by Razorpay. We do not store your credit card details.
1.2 Information Collected Automatically
- Instagram Reel Data: When you use the extension on Instagram, we collect publicly available reel data including URLs, view counts, likes, comments, captions, hashtags, duration, and posting times. This data is stored locally in your browser.
- Usage Metrics: We track the number of reels you analyze each month to enforce plan limits.
- Website Analytics & Cookies: Our website (ishort.pro) uses Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity to understand how visitors use the site. These tools set cookies and may collect data such as pages visited, approximate location, device and browser type, and anonymized interaction data (Microsoft Clarity records on-page interactions such as clicks and scrolling to produce aggregate heatmaps and session insights). This helps us improve the website and is not linked to your Instagram data.
1.3 Information We Do NOT Collect
- Your Instagram login credentials
- Private messages or direct messages
- Data from private Instagram accounts (unless you have access)
- Browsing history outside of Instagram
2. How We Use Your Information
- Provide Services: Display analytics and insights based on reel data
- Process Payments: Manage subscriptions and billing through Razorpay
- Enforce Limits: Track usage against your plan limits
- Improve Services: Understand how users interact with our extension
- Customer Support: Respond to your inquiries and provide assistance
3. Data Storage and Security
3.1 Where Data is Stored
- Reel Data: Reel metrics you browse, sort, and analyze are stored locally in your browser using Chrome's storage API, and never leave your device unless you export them.
- Transcripts & Transcribed Reels: When you use the AI transcription feature, the selected reel's audio is sent to our speech-to-text provider to generate a transcript. The transcript, together with that reel's publicly available metrics (views, likes, comments, caption, hashtags), is stored on our servers (Google Firebase). This lets you retrieve previously generated scripts without spending credits again, and helps us build content-performance insights. Only reels you explicitly transcribe are stored this way.
- Account & Subscription Data: Stored securely in Google Firebase (Firestore) with industry-standard encryption.
- Payment Records: Stored by Razorpay in accordance with their privacy policy and PCI DSS compliance.
3.2 Security Measures
- All data transmissions use HTTPS encryption
- Firebase Authentication for secure user identity
- Access controls to prevent unauthorized data access
4. Data Sharing
We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information to third parties. We may share data with:
- Service Providers: Google Firebase (hosting, authentication, database), Razorpay (payment processing), our AI speech-to-text provider (which processes a reel's audio only when you choose to transcribe it, to return the text), and website analytics providers (Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity) to operate and improve our services
- Legal Requirements: When required by law or to protect our rights
5. Data Retention
- Reel Data: Stored locally until you clear it from the extension
- Account Data: Retained while your account is active. Deleted upon account deletion request.
- Payment Records: Retained as required by tax and accounting laws (typically 7 years)
- Usage Data: Monthly usage resets each billing period
6. Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access: Request a copy of your personal data
- Correction: Update inaccurate information
- Deletion: Delete your account and associated data using the "Delete My Data" option in the extension
- Export: Export your reel data to CSV format
- Cancel: Cancel your subscription at any time
7. Children's Privacy
IShort is not intended for users under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
8. Third-Party Links
Our extension may contain links to Instagram and other third-party websites. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of these external sites.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify users of significant changes by updating the "Last updated" date and, for major changes, through the extension or email.
